Adventure with Dogs
That’s what I’m all about, with my dogs of course. Being a nomadic traveler, full-timing in my motorhome with my 2 dogs, we do find adventure every day. But some days are truly mundane or we are stuck inside due to weather. So I have to invent adventure too!
Each day, everyone can find adventure in their lives. It can include a walk around the neighborhood or a real hike on a lovely trail. Dogs find adventure in everything they do, even the backyard first thing in the morning; they go check all the smells, to see what has changed from the day before or to see what lizard has walked by, bird, etc. So finding adventure in your everyday life is doable, the key is mimicking your dog and looking for the gems in everyday life.
How about making a commitment to finding adventure each week with your dog? On Monday start your plan for 1 adventure outing for the week. It could include walking in a city park that is new to you. You could drive to a different neighborhood and walk the streets of that neighborhood. Same thing for RVers. Sometimes we are in a park for weeks and the walks start to become boring. So I mix it up, drive to a different location, walk a different direction, find a new trail or pathway to walk. It’s important for you and your dog to do this. I am confident that dogs love going to new places, it’s exciting, it’s stimulating, and it’s new! It’s important to remember, the walk is their everything. It’s their TV, book, iPad, and phone. It’s very important to let your dog sniff, explore and take in all the fabulous scent.
Are you up for the challenge? One new place each week, it’s easy and doable. If this is too easy, up the ante, make it 3 new adventures this week!
It’s always more fun if you Take Your Dog Along!

How did you get them all together for such a great photo??!
They all know the rock trick. It’s very handy. They get treats for getting on a rock and looking at me. Since they can’t all fit, some just sit nearby. Behavior that is rewarded will occur again, it’s just science! Try it, lure your dog on to something and give him a treat. Repeat. Then give it a name as he does it. It makes for great photo taking.
I enjoyed your post and am looking forward to more throughout the month! The dogs are adorable!!
Thank You Sabina, I’ll check out your blog too!
I can’t imagine a better way to spend my time than traveling with my pups. You’re blessed. I’ll be back.
Thanks Kathryn, I sure appreciate you coming along for the journey.
Traveling alone with dogs … what to do with them if you want to explore a spot in town that does not allow dogs or even simply going into an ice-cream shop. I would NEVER leave them tied up outside. I’ve tried to pre-book a grooming appointment (which gets costly) and even tried to find a day care in the area. (Also costly) Ideas?
Either they come with or they stay in the car and of course both of those are depending on weather and temperament of the dogs. Not sure if you are an RVer or not. If so, then finding a pet sitter in the RV park or a neighbor to look after your dogs when you are gone.
I always exercise my dogs and make sure they have relieved themselves before I take them to a urban area. That way they are more settled and ready to hang out and not move so fast.
I travel full time with my dogs and yes, there are limitations. Sometimes I don’t get to do what I want to, it’s just a drawback of being Solo on the road with dogs. I do my best to follow good weather, I plan my days around dogs and weather and I do tie my dogs outside an appropriate place for a few minutes. I always look for an out of the way place and I know my dog’s behavior in this situation. When I do eat out it is usually with my dogs at an outdoor eatery.
Leaving dogs in other’s care like you said is costly and can also be stressful for our dogs.
Thanks for visiting and the great question.
